Two hiking trails can be reached within a relatively short walk from the villa. One of the trails runs along the ocean, while the other takes you to the interior lake. As you walk around the countryside you will enjoy numerous tropical songbirds and the unique vegetation of Curacao, including cactus. Don't be surprised if you see flocks of wild parrots.
You can either hike or drive to the nearby Flamingo sanctuary. On most days, there are numersous flamingos feeding in the shallow salt water of the interior lake.

The large plantation has several hiking trails and is a mecca for bird-watchers. There are 51 breeding species of birds in Curacao, which does not include 77 migrants from North America, 19 species from South America and 19 species of seabirds, including large pelicans. You will see flocks of wild parrots including the Caribbean Parakeet and numerous Crested Caracara.
